Insights: field notes on Kentucky energy decisions

Plain-English analysis of the rules, rates and contracts behind solar decisions in Kentucky, written to be useful rather than to sell. Every article cites its sources and says when its facts were last checked.

What Insights covers

This Kentucky solar blog is where we publish the analysis we wish every homeowner, business owner and landowner had before signing a contract. We write about the questions our clients bring us most often: whether solar still pays after the federal homeowner credit ended, how LG&E, KU, Kentucky Power, Duke Energy Kentucky and the co-ops credit exported power, what a lease really costs over 25 years, when a battery earns its keep, how commercial projects can still meet federal deadlines, and what to compare in a farmland lease offer. We also cover performance data, supplier sustainability questionnaires and Scope 2 reporting.

How we write

  • Sources cited. Every article lists the statutes, tariffs, agency orders and data it relies on, with links so you can check them yourself.
  • Dated. Each article shows when it was published and when it was last updated. Time-sensitive pieces carry an “As of” note near the top, because tariffs, tax guidance and court decisions change.
  • Worked examples, labeled. When we use numbers to illustrate a point, we say they’re illustrative and list the assumptions, so you can swap in your own.
  • No sponsored content. No installer, manufacturer, lender or developer pays for, reviews or places anything here. We take no commissions anywhere, so we have nothing to promote.
  • General information only. Our articles are not legal advice, tax advice or investment advice. When a question needs an attorney, CPA or licensed professional, we say so.

Corrections
